Building Management Systems
Knowledge is power. This is true in life and in building management. Building Management Systems (BMS) aim to monitor building systems and, together with it's close cousin, Building Automation Systems (BAS), automate and control their processes. Opportunities for BMS are as far reaching as budget and need or imagination desire including mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire suppression systems, and security systems.
Johnson Controls Facility Explorer is a fully-customizable commercial scale building management system. Facility Explorer (FX) is built on the open-source software platform Tridium Niagara allowing incredible flexibility. Native HTML5 allows seamless access to FX across devices and operating systems.
Verasys Controls is a packaged controls system offered by Johnson Controls created with light commercial buildings (LCB) in mind. Verasys is scalable and includes the ability to cloud-monitor your systems. Verasys works for multiple applications including convenience stores, LCBs, and also multi-site businesses or landlords.
Stand-Alone Controls
When third-party control is necessary and additional intelligence is required, stand-alone controls can increase the control, efficiency, and life-span of important equipment.
Building Management System Projects
Credit Union
Eco Energy Concepts was called-in by a mechanical contractor to get a local credit union’s headquarters building management system back on line. The credit union’s BMS system had been abandoned by the previous control contractor.
Eco Energy Concepts worked with the client and the software provider to bring the BMS system back online and provide secure access to the credit union’s IT and facility management departments.
Eco Energy also worked to rectify both software issues as well as a few hardware / design challenges that needed to be rectified.
High-end Residential
Eco Energy Concepts submitted a project bid in response to a global mechanical engineering firms request for tender and was selected to be the lead contractor on this award-winning residential homes controls and mechanical systems retrofit.
Eco Energy Concepts introduced a comprehensive commercial-scale controls system to the architecturally significant home as well as project managed the mechanical contractors.
Additional integrations of an HSI security panel, Lutron RA2 lighting controls, Aprilaire climate control, and AMX home automation tested our technical team.
Canadian Coast Guard Vessel
Eco Energy Concepts worked with an historic North Vancouver shipyard to design controls for a fresh-air only system retrofit to a historic Canadian Coast Guard Vessel.
Our team had a short timeline to install and program the controls prior to a Northern research expedition.
Additionally, to accommodate the CCGS expedition schedule our commissioning took place in the vessel’s home port on Vancouver Island.
The CCGS Vector is a hydrographic survey vessel in the Canadian Coast Guard. A custom air handling unit (AHU) was manufactured by Tri-metal Fabricators who requested we assist with the controls and sequence of operations (SOO) for the marine-grade system. The controls included custom programming for multiple stages of electric heat, a marine-grade heat pump provided first-stage and heating cooling.
